Accessible travel to and from the US
Please phone us at least 72 hours before your flight on 1-800-645-3880 so we can discuss and plan your additional assistance requirements. A text telephone is available for hearing-impaired passengers in the USA: First dial 711 and then 800 645 3880 for relaying to the TRS (Telecommunication Relay Service). This service is available 24/7, even on holidays. Please contact our booking staff with any questions or concerns.
If, after reading the different subjects that are explained below, you still have a specific medical question, please contact the Lufthansa Medical Desk at +1 (516) 279 1768, which is available Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.
Travelling with your own wheelchair or mobility device on Discover Airlines flights, you can either check in battery-powered mobility devices as hold baggage or bring them into the cabin as carry-on luggage. Battery-operated mobility devices include respiratory equipment, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines, portable oxygen concentrators, and ventilators.
Passengers who use FAA-approved personal respiratory devices or ventilators may bring them on board, provided they have leak-proof batteries. The remaining battery power must be sufficient to last at least 150% of the maximum flight duration.
Discover Airlines accepts both leak-proof and non-leak-proof batteries for battery-powered mobility devices. To ensure proper handling, batteries must be clearly labelled as either “LEAK-PROOF” or “NOT LEAK-PROOF.” Batteries showing signs of damage or leakage may not be accepted.
If you are unable to register your mobility device in advance, our airport staff will be happy to assist you with its safe stowage on the aircraft.
Reimbursement of the price difference for your ticket:
If you are unable to take your originally planned flight because your mobility device cannot be transported and your new flight has a higher ticket price, we will refund you the difference in price. This applies if both flights take place on the same day, with the same airline and between the same airports.
For reimbursement, please use our contact form and submit these required documents:
Dimensions of your mobility device
Ticket price for the flight on which your mobility device could not be loaded
Ticket price for the new flight
We will do our best to accommodate your mobility device. To ensure it fits through the cargo door, please refer to the door dimensions of our aircraft:
