Bucket list for your Dubrovnik vacation
1. Swimming and sunshine at Banje Beach
You should visit Banje Beach not only because of its crystal-clear water and the relaxed atmosphere, but also because of its top location directly next to the old town. Perfect for a quick refreshment between sightseeing trips.
2. Old town at night
At night, Dubrovnik’s old town shows off its romantic side. The illuminated walls and the charm of the old, cobbled streets create a very particular mood that can be discovered on a nighttime exploration tour.
3. View from Lovrijenac Fortress
From the Lovrijenac Fortress, you can enjoy a stunning view over the Adriatic Sea and the old town – a perfect mixture of great views and exciting history. This stop is indispensable on any trip to Dubrovnik.
4. The island of Lokrum
What about a short break from the city? An excursion to the nearby island of Lokrum offers relaxation. With its gardens, ruins and a small salt lake, it is the perfect place to enjoy nature and simply switch off.
5. Local specialties
Culinary diversity en masse. Whatever you do, take time to enjoy fresh seafood and local wines! The cozy cafés and restaurants in the old town offering traditional Dalmatian dishes are particularly highly recommended.
Weather & best time to travel
Ideally, schedule your Dubrovnik vacation between May and October. Because this is when the temperatures are pleasant and the city shows its sunniest side. These months are ideal for a city break and for strolling through the old town or relaxing on the beach. For those who want to avoid the masses, May and October are perfect. With fewer crowds, your excursions and photo stops will be even more fun.
Getting around
The old town is completely car-free – perfect for going for a walk! Would you like to see a little more of the immediately surrounding area? No problem, rental cars are available for that. This also allows you to reach less accessible beaches and enjoy undisturbed spots. But pay close attention, because the roads can be a little challenging, and, unfortunately, there isn’t much parking – so it is worth getting there early! Alternatively, however, the bus network also covers most tourist destinations and is also an affordable alternative for anyone who wants to travel stress-free.
Dubrovnik Airport is located about 12 miles outside the city. There is no train service to it. You can either take a shuttle bus or a taxi. Check the flight time to plan your arrival accordingly!
