Important information: Please note that it is not possible to drop off luggage for Discover Airlines flights directly at the AIRail terminal at the Frankfurt Airport train station before your flight. Please use the Discover Airlines check-in counter in Terminal 1. If you have booked Express Rail, baggage reclaim after your Discover Airlines flight will take place directly in the AIRail terminal.

Select one of the many Express Rail stations as your airport of departure using the flight search, then select your Express Rail connection in the flight overview. You can now conveniently book and check in for your train and flight at the same time, from 23 hours to 15 minutes prior to departure. Important information about your trip with Express Rail
- Online or mobile check in from 23 hours to 15 minutes before departure.
- Your boarding pass is considered your train ticket.
- It takes just a few minutes to get from the long-distance train station to Terminal 1, and thanks to the extensive signage, it’s stress-free. If time gets tight, as an Express Rail customer, you have the option of using the fast lane at the security checkpoint.
Express Rail FAQs
Yes, Discover Airlines includes a seat reservation. As a Discover Airlines Business Class passenger, train seats in first class are reserved for you. If you are traveling in Discover Airlines Premium Economy or Economy Class, you will find your reserved seats on the train in second class.
Yes, Express Rail can also be booked for just one route. To do this, select the “multi-stop-flight” option in the flight search and enter your itinerary accordingly. For example: Mannheim – Frankfurt, Frankfurt – New York, New York – Frankfurt.
With Express Rail, you can check in online or via your cell phone from 23 hours before departure and up to 15 minutes before the train departs. You will get a boarding pass for each train and flight. The boarding pass is your ticket for the train and is only valid for the printed connection. Failure to do so may result in additional fare charges by Deutsche Bahn. You will carry your luggage on the train yourself and drop it off at one of the Discover Airlines baggage drop-off counters at the airport.
The Discover Airlines baggage regulations apply to all Express Rail connections. The free baggage allowance corresponds to the baggage regulations of your connecting flight.
As an Express Rail traveler, you are responsible for your luggage during the train journey until you drop it off at the Discover Airlines check-in counters at Frankfurt Airport. On your return journey, you will receive your luggage at the baggage claim area in the AIRail Terminal upon your arrival in Frankfurt and take it directly on your train.
Please note:
- Unfortunately, bicycles, surfboards and sporting weapons cannot be transported.
- The transportation of dogs and cats is permitted.
In order to guarantee the best possible care, please let us know what you need right at the time of booking. If you travel in a wheelchair, you will be accompanied by a DB Information Department employee from 30 minutes before the train departs up until you are seated in the train. Upon arrival, our service employees will take you to your departure gate.
Please note It is unfortunately not possible to travel on RailFly if you require a medical escort or need to be transported lying down.
Cross-border Express Rail connections are not available at the present time. If you would like to travel to Frankfurt by train from another European country, please book via Deutsche Bahn or the relevant national transportation companies.
*Business Class guests, as well as HON Circle Members and Senators with a valid Express Rail boarding pass, can access the premium area in the DB Lounge.
