Dangerous goods
In order to ensure your safety on board, some items are not permitted in checked or carry-on baggage. Below you will find an overview of the dangerous goods you are permitted to transport and in which item of baggage.
For security reasons, the following items are not permitted, neither in carry-on baggage nor in checked baggage:
- Corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis, bases, wet batteries
- Containers with gases such as irritant gases, self-defense sprays
- Containers with flammable liquids, e. g., lighter fluid, paints, varnishes, cleaning agents
- Gasoline-powered devices and tools that contain even small amounts of gasoline (e.g., for test purposes)
- Camping gas stoves, gas containers, filled diving tanks
- Explosives, fireworks, torches
- Electric shock weapons, e.g., tasers
- Poisonous (toxic) and contagious substances, e. g., mercury, bacterial and viral cultures
- Heat-generating objects
- Oxygen generators, liquid oxygen
- Highly flammable substances, e. g., strike-anywhere matches
- Battery-powered vehicles (e.g., e-scooters, hoverboards, mini-segways, Solowheels, electric bicycles). This regulation applies regardless of the battery output.
- Oxidizing substances, e. g., bleaching powder, superoxide
- Substances that develop flammable gases when in contact with water
- Security bags or briefcases with lithium batteries or pyrotechnic devices
- Radioactive substances and objects
- Highly magnetic materials
- Over 2.5 kg of dry ice
Important: Wheelchairs and other mobility aids that are powered by lithium batteries are unaffected by this ban.
