Yes, we look forward to receiving your application! A prerequisite is that you must have a fully valid passport and residence and work permits for Germany.

We expect our crews to have a very good, fluent level of German. This means we require at least level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

You must also be able to communicate safely on board with non-German-speaking guests and service providers. Likewise, most of our manuals are written in English. This means we require English level B1/B2 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

This is of course possible in principle. However, attendance at our on-site applicant days in Frankfurt or Munich is essential. You’ll also have to attend additional meetings in Germany during the recruitment process. If you can ensure this, we look forward to receiving your application.

Unlike other airlines, we have decided not to include a minimum height requirement in the job description. The crucial factor is how high you can reach (i.e. how easily you can reach the luggage compartments, for example) and that all the routine tasks on board can be performed.

No, a high school diploma is sufficient.

Cabin crew needs to be physically fit. Initially, there is a medical pre-employment examination. For example, a hearing and vision test will be performed. We deliberately do not stipulate a BMI (body mass index) compared to other airlines.

Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to apply as a cabin crew member with us.

No, there is not. We value personality and diversity, so it is possible to apply at any age. We actively encourage applications from people who already have a lot of life and work experience and would like to make a career change or a new start.

Yes, to work as a cabin crew member, you must be able to swim several lengths at a time safely in a swimming style of your choice.

Yes. We also allow tattoos to be on display. Face tattoos are not permitted. Tattoos may not include any political or religious statements.

Training takes place on a full-time basis. We would therefore advise against secondary jobs during training. Side jobs are possible as part of a permanent position and are generally approved by the fleet manager concerned.

No, please organize your accommodation yourself. We are unable to cover the costs of this.

During the training, you will receive standard pay based on your pay grade.

The basic course currently lasts around ten weeks.

The training usually takes place very close to Frankfurt Airport.

The training course is held in German, but most of the training materials and examinations are in English.

School grades are not the be-all and end-all. On the recruitment day, we look at a lot of different aspects, so you need not be too worried about individual school grades. Nevertheless, the overall picture that emerges from your certificate is of course relevant.

If you are successful in the pre-selection process, we will invite you very quickly to a recruitment day, where you will be given a number of individual and group tasks. On this day, we would like to get to know each other in person and see if Discover Airlines is a good fit for you.

We start with an introduction of the Recruiting Team and give you insights into the company and the job as a (Responsible) Cabin Manager. Then you run through a group exercise and complete an English assessment. In the afternoon, in the second round, an interview, including role play, as well as a questionnaire about your personality await you.

A recruitment day at Discover Airlines is divided into a morning and an afternoon block. The morning block is from 9:15 a.m. to approximately 1:00 p.m. If the morning block is successfully completed, the afternoon block follows from approximately 1:30 p.m. to approximately 6:30 p.m.

Your outfit can accentuate your personality. So we don’t want to give you any specific guidelines. Come dressed in whatever you feel good. Nevertheless, of course it is an assessment center, therefore we request that you wear appropriate clothing. A little tip that may help is that you won’t go far wrong with casual business wear.

The atmosphere on recruitment days depends on you, our participants. You get to know a lot of new people and can do some networking. Of course, our candidates are always a bit excited and curious, and that’s par for the course. Our recruitment team works to create a nice, relaxed atmosphere throughout the day. We meet on an equal footing. So we use the informal German “Du” with all participants.

The starting salary as a Cabin Manager is €2,750 gross including a bonus for weekend and shift work. As a Responsible Cabin Manager (RCM), you will start with a starting salary of €3,530 including an allowance for weekend and shift work as soon as you have successfully completed your RCM training. You will then also receive a paid RCM allowance.

The allowance for weekend and shift work (currently 16.3%) is generally paid tax-free.

Depending on the number of block hours flown, the basic salary is also subject to a multi-flight hour compensation. You will also receive a commission on the in-flight sales on your flights. Discover Airlines also offers numerous discounts in the travel industry, standby flights with all Lufthansa Group airlines and beyond, as well as benefits such as a Jobticket (monthly travel card) and free parking at the airport.

A block hour is relevant for calculating the extra flight hours and is derived from the block time of a flight. This starts with off-block (aircraft leaves the parking position) to on-block (aircraft reaches the parking position).

Your base salary covers 75 block hours. If you fly beyond this, these accrued block hours will be remunerated separately from the base salary.

Yes, Discover Airlines pays the statutory expense rates as published by the German Federal Ministry of Finance.

Salary grading is based on proven flying hours.

If there is availability, we will offer you a shorter Operator Conversion Course. A Cabin Crew Attestation in accordance with Part CC EASA is a prerequisite for participating in an Operator Conversion Course.

We always start on a full-time basis. After that, it is possible to apply annually for various part-time work models.

In principle, it is possible to fly with us during a flexible self-study program. However, it will probably be difficult to reconcile attendance dates with your work schedule. You can apply for a dedicated study and fly model during the annual part-time allocation.

We always try to approve all requests, e.g. regarding part-time work and vacations. If this is not feasible in operational terms, we work on the basis of fairness and take social criteria into account. Working positions on board are assigned 12 or 24 hours before the flight by the responsible cabin manager.

In principle, employees are free to terminate their employment contract at any time as long as they comply with the agreed notice periods. However, there is an obligation to repay training costs if the employee terminates their employment contract before a period of 12 months has elapsed.

At Discover Airlines, you have the opportunity to become a manager after two years (even sooner under certain conditions). An internal vacancy notice is permanently open and courses are held regularly as required.

Rosters look very different from month to month, so it is difficult to make a general statement about this. In principle, however, you should be prepared to be away from home for over half of each month. With our short-range and medium-range routes, you will always get back home in the evening, but will be out all day long.

In both Frankfurt and Munich, you will be working for Discover Airlines in Mixed Fleet Flying on both aircraft types, flying to all destinations in our route network - on short, medium and long-haul routes.

Rosters can vary a lot. It is legally possible to work up to 100 block hours per month. However, generally the actual flown block hours are significantly lower than this.

The duration of so-called layovers varies depending on the destination and flight schedule period. Many of the destinations served have very short stopovers of slightly over 24 hours. Longer layovers are more of an exception, but they may also occasionally happen.

With what is known as standby service, you must be able to reach your stationing location within 90 minutes. Apart from that, we do not have any regulations regarding your place of residence. However, we would like to point out that commuting is very costly and time-consuming, and we always expect our crews to be at work on time and to be rested.
