Traveling with children

Flying is always a very special event for our young passengers. So it’s important to us that your children have a nice time on board our flights.

Discover Airlines offers airline tickets for children at the corresponding child fare. Every child requires their own ticket and children aged two and over must also have their own seat. After take-off, our crew hand out coloring books to help the time fly by and ensure that our youngest passengers are left with happy memories of their trip.

It is particularly important to us that our young passengers are happy when they arrive at their destination. Our service for unaccompanied minors (UM) can be booked on all point-to-point connections (departure and destination airport Frankfurt or Munich). The service is mandatory for unaccompanied children aged between 5 and 11; for children aged between 12 and 17 it is optional.

The service for UMs is not necessary if children aged between 5 and 11 are traveling with an accompanying person from their own family (e.g. siblings) who is at least 12 years old.

Flying with peace of mind during pregnancy

Flying poses no significant risk to those with a straightforward pregnancy. Nevertheless, we advise expectant mothers to talk to their GP or gynecologist in advance about their upcoming flight. Due to the increased risk of thrombosis during pregnancy, we recommend the wearing of compression stockings during the flight.

Until when can you travel during pregnancy?

Uncomplicated single pregnancy: Flying is permitted until the end of the 36th week of pregnancy. From the 28th week of pregnancy onwards, a certificate from the attending gynecologist should be presented stating that the journey is safe.
Uncomplicated multiple pregnancy: Flying is permitted until the end of the 32nd week of pregnancy. From the 28th week of pregnancy onwards, a certificate from the attending gynecologist should be presented stating that the journey is safe.
Pregnancies with complications: If complications (heavy bleeding, threatened premature birth, pregnancy infections, pre-eclampsia, etc.) have already occurred during pregnancy, a medical certificate from the attending gynecologist must be submitted before traveling.

The gynecologist should explicitly state that the pregnancy does not prevent the patient from traveling by air.

Regardless of the above-mentioned health conditions, different regulations may apply in some countries.

Discover Airlines assumes no liability in the event that you are not granted permission to fly due to country-specific laws. The same applies in cases where you are refused entry to your destination country due to local laws because of your pregnancy. It is therefore strongly recommended that you check with the relevant authorities beforehand about the country-specific laws regarding flight permission for expectant mothers.

In addition, digital games in the Onboard Cloud invite them to an extensive gaming round.
