Going on vacation and want to take your musical instrument, your sports equipment, or your bicycle with you? No problem. Discover Airlines offers a variety of options so that you can take what you need on holiday. You can even take your ski/snowboard equipment free of charge! Here you can find out everything you need to know about the size, weight and number of your carry-on baggage, checked baggage and special and excess baggage.

Additional baggage
Economy Light
You have booked the Economy Light fare, but your snorkel and beach towel no longer fit in your carry-on baggage? Simply add a check-in bag to your booking in the My Bookings section on Lufthansa.com. Alternatively, you can add a check-in bag via the Discover Airlines Service Center, at the check-in counter or, in the case of a package tour, via your tour operator.
All other fares
If you would like to check in another bag in addition to the free baggage allowance in your booked fare, you can book this via the Discover Airlines Service Center, at the check-in counter or, in the case of a package tour, via your tour operator.
Price overview
You can find a price overview for additional baggage as well as excess and special baggage in the baggage calculator on lufthansa.com. With the baggage calculator you can also check how much baggage you are allowed to take with you according to the route, booked travel class and fare. To do so, please enter your flight information and select Discover Airlines as the airline.

Missing or damaged baggage
In the event that your baggage arrives damaged or delayed, we would like to provide you with the best possible support. We will, of course, take all necessary measures to recover your baggage as quickly as possible or to compensate you for any damage to your baggage.
Children’s baggage
At Discover Airlines, we naturally pay particular attention to the needs of our youngest passengers. Whether it’s a buggy, child seat or travel cot, you can check in these items free of charge on our flights.
Pets on board
If you’ve been unable to find holiday care for your loyal little companion or you simply don’t want to be separated from them, then why not take them on vacation with you? At Discover Airlines, small pets are permitted to fly with you in the cabin after registration.
Dangerous goods
In order to guarantee your safety on board, the transport of certain items either in checked baggage or in your carry-on baggage is not permitted. On the following page you’ll find an overview of which dangerous goods may be transported in which item of baggage.
